Has anyone on babyu ever concieved while breastfeeding?

I was just wondering, has anyone here gotten pregnant while breastfeeding? I have heard that breastfeeding is a natural form of birth control but it is definately NOT 100% effective!

I do know that it is almost impossible for someone who is exclusively breastfeeding to concieve during the first 6mo after the baby is born. Not sure if my dr. told me that or Anne. Anyway, I was just interested in knowing if a lot of women HAVE concieved even though they were breastfeeding. It is pretty interesting learning how the body works with hormones and such. Thanks again for your info. Guess not too many here at babyu have concieved while nursing. Do you plan on breastfeeding when you have your baby?

I hope you can!!
I am still feeding my son, not exclusively but a lot (I think)
I got my period he was 3 months old, so nothing is safe.
I know I am ovulating, I can feel it. We are ready to conceive #2, so I might be able to tell you soon.(Hopefully)
I am also planning on not weaning Jerome just because I am pregnant or have another one. I heard about conursing, when you nurse two the same time but different ages. I will see, so far I am not pregnant, but if things work out (keep your fingers crossed) I will be before it is time to wean.
Iwill keep you posted if interested.
But if anyone here has done it, I would love to hear about it.

NEWSFLASH!

Breastfeeding is NOT an effective method of birth control. My parents got pregnant with my little sister while they were breastfeeding me, and my cousin just found out that she is four months pregnant. She has been breastfeeding her nine month old exclusively.
Nice thought, though. I was kind of hoping for a "pill" break after our baby was born. No such luck.

Good luck in TTC! My good friend is still nursing her 22mo old and is TTC also. She plans on nursing them both as well. When you nurse them both at the same time it is called tantem nursing. I think that we may have some pics of this on Anne's website. www.breastfeedingbasic.com
Emily, my youngest, is almost 8mo old and still nursing 4-6x a day, but i had a cycle last month so we just started using birthcontrol. I wish that bf really was 100% effective so we wouldn't have to go through the hassel for a few more months!

I am living proof that you can get pregnant while nursing. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and still nursing my 1 yo dd. Not only that, but we were also using condoms EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! I wasn't nursing exclusively when I conceived, but still quite a bit. And I NEVER stopped ovulating - my cycle started up again (with both pregnancies) as soon as the postpartum bleeding stopped.

I don't want to tandem nurse and I'm really hoping that Kailyn will wean herself before the baby comes. I just see too many problems with jealousy and all that if they're both nursing. Plus, my breasts hurt SO bad right now that I can hardly stand it!!! Also, after having been through this twice already, I know you're nursing almost around the clock when the baby is first born and I really don't want to add nursing a toddler into the mix. I just hope she weans herself soon!!

Wow Christine, you must be really fertile! Good luck on trying to wean your daughter b4 your new baby, i know that it can be a real struggle sometimes! You have plenty of time left to wean her, but just in case that you can't b4 the baby arrives have comfort in knowing that i know people that have successfully tandom nursed without jealousy. Your 12mo old may wean and then see the baby nursing and may want to start breastfeeding again. Mine did! He didn't do it for very long though, thank goodness! Hope that your soreness gets better soon, that must be horrible, expecially since your daughter has been biting. Bailey bit and it was HORRIBLE! Have you checked to make sure that it is not a yeast infection just to be on the safe side? Just a suggestion. Have a great day, see ya on the bf boards!

I´m breastfeeding my 13 mos boy. Though he ates a lot of table food, he still nurses several times a day (I would say, not less than 9, in the quiet days). I stoped taking the pill about 3 weeks ago, so we´re gonna see if we can have a new baby soon. I know it won´t be easy, since it took us 5 month the first time, and now I didn´t even have my period.
I had planned to let Alejandro wean himself, but I don´t know if I´ll feel comfortable nursing while pregnant. Anyway, nursing a toddler is an easy way to calm him down and comfort him, so maybe it helps when you´re pregnant & so tired.
Well, we´ll see. I know my chances are low, but I´ll try for a while, before deciding to wean Alito.

My first dd was 21 months old and still bf when I conceived baby #2. I didnt have alot of milk, but she was still bf a few times a day.

Got Preggers while....

I got preggers with our 3rd when our 2nd was only 6 mos. and I only breastfeed him.
He weaned himself shortly after.
