RhoGAM and lab tests

I have a physical with the VA on Monday. When I got my RhoGAM shot, they gave me a pamphlet which said that RhoGAM could effect or scew blood test results. Should I tell the VA to hold off drawing my blood until several weeks after the baby is born, because I will have to have this shot again? How does it affect blood tests? Will they be able to compensate for the pressence of it in my blood? Thanks.

Good question, Lenora. To be totally honest, I'm not quite sure. Perhaps Genie can help us out???? HINT - HINT!

What are these tests for?? (Just a thought process -- no need to answer.) The reason I'm asking is I would suggest asking the MD who ordered the tests if the RhoGAM will alter the tests, as you have had the injection & give the MD the date you had it. They should be able to tell you if it will effect your results and if they can compensate for it or not.

Wow... good question. I'll do some research & get back to you.

I'm not sure. But the VA loves drawing blood, so I am sure they will. I have a feeling they may want to redo all those blood tests I just had to determine if my neurological problems are genetic or from some other cause. I don't want to go through all that again, but if it gets me my claim, I will.

uggghh... I'm sorry Lenora! I'd just mention the shot to them. If they get skewed results, I'd just calmly remind them you had the shot & that you told them that when they drew it. Uggh...
