questions on strep throat

1. The dr said that I shouldn't have to worry about Brandon because he had his tonsils removed. Is this so?

2. The nurse said the girls are contagious for 24 hours. When does the 24 hours occur? Surely not when the nurse says so!! But what I am concerned about is tomorrow. We have several things to do and some can't be rescheduled. Were the contagious yesterday? Or are they today?

3. And just how could they have gotten it? I can understand Caitlyn getting it from drinking after Angela. But how would have Angela gotten it?

I've never heard of that with the tonsils thing... my sister had a tonsillectomy & STILL got strep throat... just as much as I did.

They consider the patient contageous 24 hrs. from the start of treatment. You should have 24 hrs. worth of meds on board before you are around other people.

I think it's just very contageous. I'm not sure if it is airborne &/or droplet borne, but you can get it from being around others, ie: sharing glasses, coughing on someone, sneezing/coughing & droplets get on your hands or other surfaces. I'll have to look it up sometime & find the exact transmission information for you.

I hope y'all feel better soon!

Well in the book our insurance gave us it said even if your tonsils were removed you could still get strep throat. And I do not know either how it is passed, but it is contagious. I hope you do not get it!
