How long does it take meatballs in the crockpot?

I always make my meatballs in the oven but the pilot in the oven won't stay lit so until the fix it guy comes I am stuck using the crock pots and stove top. I put them in around 11:30. They are in spaghetti sauce. Around supper I am adding another container of sauce since I am sure some of it will bake down.

But how long does it take the meat to be done?

4-6 hours is about how long I make sure mine go in - depending on how big they are. If their kinda small, they don't need to be in quite so long.

But you also might try browning them on the stovetop first. I do this and they will cook faster this way.

Thanks Brenda. They will be done right around supper then!

Are they more tender in the crock pot? Or are they about the same?

They tend to fall apart more! LOL! If you brown them first they stay together better. But cooking them in the sauce gives them more flavor, I think.

They were really good. They didn't fall apart at all! I was very impressed! They were yummy in the sauce

Hey Wendy or anyone else how do you cook them in the oven? I ALWAYS mess mine up but love them so much and need help! Please Help!

Sorry I didn't see this Steph!

1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup) (or onion salt if you don't like chunks in your meatballs--or leave it out if you don't like onions)
1/3 cup dry bread crumbs (or crushed corn flakes, crackers anything to hold them together--I actually used tricuits last time--I got it all mixed up and realized I didn't have anything BUT triscuits and den said they were really good)
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon yellow mustard

You can make italian meatballs by adding 1 cup chili sauce
1 can of tomato paste/sauce(12 ounces)
1/2 cup water

(add that to the above)

Heat oven to 400
and put in for 20 minutes....I always put mine in on a lower temp and leave them in longer but I got my cookbook out for the time and temp because I didn't want to kill you...lol)

Basically you can add whatever you want and leave out whatever you want. A while ago I saw a recipe for meatballs that had nuts in them

Thanks! LOL I love meatballs but ALWAYS screw them up! I don't usually follow directions so this will probably help! And I am sure that you wouldnt try to kill us! LOL and I think if it doesnt kill your family and you feed it to them than Id trust you!
