woohoo update!

In my post under the general pregnancy discussion I said that I was supposed to be induced last thursday. Well, that jinxed me and I went into labor on wednesday afternoon. In preparation for the induction I'd made arrangements for my other kids to sleep over at their grandmother's wednesday night and on the way home from dropping them off I had my first "real" contraction. That was at 6:05 pm. When I got home I called the answering service twice but we decided to leave before the doc called back (I was contracting every 3 minutes). On the way to the hospital the doc called my cell and tried to convince us to go to a different hospital because he didn't want to drive to the one we'd chosen. Anyway, once I got to the floor and into the stirrups I was 5 centimeters and 90% effaced. About 30 minutes or so later I was 9 centimeters and fully effaced. Guess what-the doc still wasn't there. So at 10 centimeters there I was ready to go, the resident docs standing around saying "don't push-the doctors on his way!" They finally caved and broke my water, I pushed 3 or 4 times and little Stryker was out. That was at 7:54 pm. About 20 minutes later the doc strolls in and tells me "with your next kid just leave for the hospital when you have your first contraction." Ya think?! He isn't the doc I regularly see in the office and I love his partners and midwife so I guess I can't complain to badly. Anyway, little Stryker was pronounced perfectly healthy, I didn't need an episiotomy, and my hubby didn't faint. My hubby was freaked out-after everything was finished he was trying to stroke my hair (I think) but didn't realize he was slapping me in the forehead.
