Thanksgiving Fun!

I just put this in my newsletter. My boys and I did this last year and it was great!

Hand Tracings

A classic Thanksgiving arts and crafts project
for kids is tracing their hand on a piece of
construction paper and it becomes the tail
feathers of a turkey. They fill in the rest of
the drawing and they have holiday artwork!
However, I have thought of something a little
different to do with a tracing of our hands.
Have each family member trace their entire hand
on a piece of orange construction paper; yes,
even Mom and Dad. Using a brown marker have
everyone name five things they are thankful
for and print them on each finger. In the
middle of the hand you can either print the
persons name or glue on a small picture.

Place all the hands in a decorative manner on
the inside of the front door, and be sure to
keep the supplies on hand for visitors to add
their own thankful hand to your display. Be
sure to date each one, and store with your
other keepsakes after the holiday.

How about an Autumn Wreath?

My daughter's preschool class made the most adorable autumn wreaths today! They look very simple to make!

Wreath Base: Cut the middle out of a basic paper plate, leaving only about 2 inches all the way around. Cover the "wreath" in yellow or orange tissue paper. Use a staple to attach.

Decorations: Using red, brown, yellow and orange construction paper, cut out various shapes of leaves and acorns, making each about 4 - 5 inches tall (you'll need 8 to 10 per wreath). Tape the leaves and acorns to the outside of the wreath base. Be sure to turn the leaves at different angles for best effect! That's it!

Adorable -- pumpkin pie!

Here's yet another cute idea!

Needed Supplies:

Aluminum Pie Tin
Paper Plate (standard white one)
Non-toxic Paint (brown)
Rubber Cement
Small White Paper Doily
Picture of Child

Paint both sides of the paper plate. Allow to dry.
Cut the center out of the doily. You can cut out a cute shape, or just a circle.
Cut the picture down to fit inside the doily.
Glue to the top of the paper plate. Glue doily over picture -- giving whipped cream effect.
Place glue along the rim of the pie tin.
Put paper plate on top and hold for a few moments.

You now have an adorable pumpkin pie with whipped cream .. complimented by the child's picture!

These sound really cute! I'm a pack rat, been collecting things since I was little for my kids one day...so I'm going to save these ideas in a folder until my kids are old enough to do these. Thanks!! Keep the ideas coming, I'm new at this stuff, so I don't really have any ideas yet!
