How long will this thing drain?

I had the cyst on my rear lanced on March 14. The packing came out on the 16th. I went back to the doctor on the 19th. It was still draining some, and the doctor said that was normal but that it should stop soon; It was just going to take time for it to heal from the inside out. Well, it is still draining some. I was wondering if that's normal.

As long as it is healing, it should be OK. If you notice any signs or symptoms of infection: increasing pain, swelling, redness, increased warmth, purelent (aka Nasty! LOL) drainage or if you see increased amts. of drainage, contact your MD right away.

Sometimes it just takes a little longer to heal. Make sure you have enough protein in your diet... protein helps the healing process. Good luck, Dina! Let me know how it goes.

Thanks, Kim. That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure. My mom said that my cousin (who had about the same thing) had drainage for a long time.
