Pepper cat was my best friend. I remember fighting with my dad to get a cat when I was in 7th or 8th grade. He told me that I wouldn't take care of it and all that other stuff parents tell their kids. I proved to him that I could take care of him.
I remember the time he tried fitting under my bedroom door(there was a space between the door and the floor) If he squished himself down on the floor he could crawl under and get to me when I was in my room. He got to big and he tore the carpet up in that spot thinking if the carpet was gone he would fit
Well he didn't fit but he did manage to make the carpet look pretty awful there. My dad was NOT happy with Pepper but decided to get over it. (My dad ended up LOVING this cat so much and still tells stories of--not bad for someone who didn't want him at first!
6 happy years later we found out that he had stomach cancer
My mom cried and cried when the vet told her. We asked that the vet do anything to save him but there wasn't anything to be done. We let him stay at home til we noticed the pain was getting bad for him. The day we scheduled to put him to sleep
he died at home. I guess he wanted to die where he was the happiest at.
Pepper still hasn't ever been forgotten. It seems every cat we get can't compare to him but they are loved so much!
Here he is
