Baby acne and other skin problems

My baby has zits. The nurse said it was common and she'd seen much worse cases than Kate's. Supposedly, it comes from excess hormones from the mother during birth or from breastmilk. I have read the only thing to do for it is to wash it with a mild baby soap.

Also, my sweet has a lot of dry skin problems. She's just one big flake. Did anyone else have these problems? how about cradle cap? She has a mild case of that too.

Yes, both of mine had all of those problems. They all cleared up. The cradle cap wasn't too bad with Logan just a sopt here or there. Samantha still gets cc from time to time. It is all very common. They had us use babyoil for the cc. The acne just use mild soap and use extra lotion for the dry spots.

Baby acne is fairly common, every baby I've ever seen has had it to some extent. I've also heard that the dry skin is common in babies who were late -the same with cradle cap, don't try to scratch it off, what i was told to do was use their little baby brush
after their bath and gently brush the loose pieces off. SHe will outgrow it, it took Jared about 4-5 mos for it to completely disappear.

HTH !

I'm sorry she has it, but I'm glad it will clear up soon. I didn't plan on dealing with acne for her until she was a teenager.

Yup we have had it here too.
I was wondering if she had it before her reactions to the foemulas last week?
It could be from that and will just clear up on its own too.
I was told I could use cortizone the reg strength on her scalp and forhead but only when she was napping so she wouldn't rub it with her hands.
Somebody is actually making a lotion or shampoo for cc now i have seen it in the drug stores with all the other baby soaps.

My doc actually told me to wash hair less often too. Just rinse with clear water every day and use soap every 3 days. I was grosssed out at first but after 2 weeks it was definately helping.
When ashleys hair was wet I would hold her fine tooth comb almost flat horizontal to her head and comb back gently loosening any scales that were ready to come up and then I would brush it through with the soft brush too. She actually enjoye thid attention and i think the brushing was soothing to her too.

Grant had horrible baby acne and I freaked because Grace did not have it. I've never even seen a teenager with acne that bad. I was told it would go away and it eventually did in a couple of weeks.
Grant also had cradle cap. I tried oil on his head and Sebulex dandruff shampoo. The Sebulex cleared up my nephew's cradle cap but did nothing for Grant. Bought Gentle naturals cradle cap treatment by orajel and 3 treatments of it did the job. It comes in a small blue/green bottle that is sold by the baby shampoos. My aunt had a prescription for some kind of cortisone cream for her kid and she tried my stuff and it worked for her kid too, I highly recomend it.

Christian had cradle cap and Kels does now. I just use cream after her bath and it is fine but it is not too bad.

I've never had the baby acne problem but I hear it is really common!

Both of my kids had the baby acne and that cleared up on it's own. The dry flaky skin...used to want to take a scrub pad and get it all off!!! I really liked the Baby Magic Creamy Baby Oil. I just applied again and again. For the cradle cap I would put vaseline in their hair where it was and rub gently. Let sit for about 30 minutes. Then while washing use a soft brush and gently scrub the area. It is all totally normal!

It's very normal for newborns to shed...both of mine did for a couple weeks or so. It was like snow, only indoors!

Both of my sons had baby acne. Jonas had it so bad that his skin was bright red. It cleared up after a while. Jonas also had dry skin (Exzema) and I had to use corizone cream on it. Both Darien and Jonas had cradle cap. Darien had i the worst.

No body tells you about these fun baby things until you freak out about them.

I know right! my girld all that stuff too... frustrating. I did read about allergic reactions to fabric softener, and chemicals in soaps and all that stuff from my girlfriend, she's really into that stuff. She brought over a bubble free wash from Tawna Hill Baby that has no chemicals in it and it helped cleanse without irritating. there was also two other things was the milk and oatmeal bath with a cream moisturizer to but on after. I used it on kate and I saw a dramatic difference in her skin in on the first try. Worked for me... I dunno all kids are different but, i just hate medicine if we can avoid it.
