Snake

Our little mainly feral cat Snake died Tuesday. Here's to Snake:

You never had much of a chance in life. You were born to a bad mother with a lot of physical deformities. Then you lost your sight in your right eye due to pink eye. We couldn't help you, because you were too wild. Then about a month ago something terrible happened to you. I'm not sure if you were bit by a snake or hit by a car. You lived in pain, partially paralyzed and with gangrene because we could not touch you and couldn't afford medical care for you. Now, you are gone. I hope you did not suffer much. I'm sorry we couldn't do more for you. I'm honored you died with your little paw on my basement door asking for my help in complete repose. I'm glad you knew that we cared about you even though you would never let us touch you and we couldn't help you beyond providing you with a lot of good food and a warm box to sleep in. I hope wherever you are now, you are no longer in pain, deformed and shunned by the other cats.

Poor little guy got bit by a snake or a large animal right on the privates. He had a cleft palette and toothpick like teeth that stuck outside his mouth on one side. His blind eye bulged open and he squinted with the other eye which is why we called him "Snake eyes" or Snake for short. The other cats didn't like him, but we took care of him and gave him baby formula (which kate was allergic to and we couldn't use anyway) until he died. I think it made his last days nicer and stronger. Steve's more broke up than I am. He was the one who primarily cared for Snake.

How sad!! I'm sorry to hear that. I know you both loved her and will remember her.

Lenora I am so sorry. You did all you could do. If she/he would not let you touch him then a vet could not either. I am so glad you took care of him/her as best as you could.
