Need Mytussin (Robitussin) Dosing info

Haley woke up with a nasty cough this morning. The only medicine I have is some Mytussin that was given to me as a prescription so it only has my dosing info on it which is 1 tsp.
I need to know how much and how often to give a 43lb 6 yr old.

Either if one of our nurses knows or if anyone has a bottle and can go check for me I'd appreciate it.

I didn't think of that ... CVS will usually give you dosage information over the phone!

To be sure, I'd check with your local pharmacist. They will do the dosing info/calculations for you. I hope she feels better, soon.

I don't know why I didn't think of that...It'll have to wait until tomorrow now.

Elaine, All I have in my cupboard is Equate Tussin (Guaifenesin Syrup), for children & adults. The ingredients per tsp (5ml) is 100 mg.

The child dosing instructions are: 6-12 y/o - 1 to 2 TEASPOONS every 4 hrs.

From 2-6 y/o can give 1/2 to 1 TEASPOON full every 4 hrs.

Under 2 consult a Doctor.

I would just make sure this is the same med AND the same dosage as stated above. If so, then this dosing should be OK. If not, I'd check in the am w/the pharmacy.

Yep her dose is 1/2 tsp...

She just gets this horrible barking cough at night and early in the morning. It kept everyone awake all night.
And then after she gets up it slowly goes away and there in no more coughing untill late in the evening. Very weird.

She doesn't have croup does she??? Try sitting in the bathroom with her with the shower running hot water to steam the place up, if that eases it she may have croup. I found a vapouriser to be invaluable when Ricky had it.
