A 100-year-old oak tree fell with cruel precision on top of a sport utility vehicle during a Thursday evening thunderstorm, killing a woman and her two young children while leaving her husband in the front seat uninjured.
Lisa Cunard, 37, was in the back seat with her two sons, Max Colvin, 3, and 6-month-old Owen William, when the 70-foot tree uprooted, crushing the back half of the black Toyota Landcruiser.
Brad Cunard was driving and escaped unhurt. His wife and children died on impact, officials said.
"He is distraught beyond words," Atlanta Fire Department spokesman Jolene Butts-Freeman said. "He lost his entire family."
