I think he...

Ate a penny????

I think he ate it this morning. He usually goes and gets a kick out of dropping it in the bank. I let him go do it and all of a sudden he was choking and a little but I have a feeling it went down.

I just have to check poop right? How long before I start to worry? He did poop once since then but I thought that was too soon so I didn't check it. Should I?

I think When I was little I did the same. I feel like such an idiot right now!!!

I am sorry to laugh Jan. I am not sure how fast things move through the system..maybe give it 24 hours?

Small coins are one of the most common items children swallow. Although most pennies will pass quickly through your child's system, they can be dangerous if they become lodged. Pennies minted after 1982 are made almost entirely of zinc. When these coins are exposed to stomach acid, they begin corroding almost immediately. A Duke University study showed the combined mixture of zinc and stomach acid creates a solution as corrosive as car battery acid. Lodged pennies can cause severe ulceration of the stomach.

If your child swallows a penny, wait 1 or 2 days to see if it passes through his or her system. If the coin doesn't appear in your child's stools or if your child has stomach pain or vomits, take him or her to the emergency room.

Sorry Spungy, Abe Lincoln did finally come out like 3 or four days later...

Passed on its own. I did notice it was after the date Elaine said but he was fine. Didn't keep Abe either/he went in the garbage...

When I was little, I believed if I swallowed money it would multiply in my tummy. I'm glad Trey is alright.
