Usually I make their costumes, but this year Jessica won't be trick or treating and Nicholas changed his mind at the last minute and we ended up buying one. So I think that I will just wait till a few days before and see what Nicholas decides

Last year Brandon was Bob the Builder, I made it. I bought a long sleeve red shirt (that was the hardest to find), yellow paint and a square sponge and made the shirt. Then we used a pair of overalls and construction boots he already had. I bought a little hat at party city and we borrowed toy tools. I spent maybe $15 total on it.

This year we decided to make him a pirate, since he still doesn't really care and if I did ask him, he would probably want to be Blue... We have black sweatpants that are too short, I am going to cut the elastic off and make the little "v" shapes at the bottoms of his leg, find a piece of red material to tie around his waist, and I will just need to get a button down white shirt (which he can wear again) and a patch. Probably get a piece of charcoal and give him the 5 o clock shadow.

They wear store bought. I'd rather make them costumes, but they usuallly want to be some specific 'character' and I can't do things w/o a pattern.

So far we've put together his costume. The first year he was Superman (he had superman pjs, put on red socks for the boots and wala!!). Then last year was Bob the Builder. (Jennifer, we or our kids must be on the same wavelength!!) We put together his costume using a flannel shirt, jeans, boots, toy hard hat and tools and this year he's gonna be a pirate. But not just any pirate, Captain Hook. And the costume has to be red like Captain Hook's. We were going to buy one but can't find one that's red.

So, we found a pair of red pants that are flared at the bottom and have some sort of brick-a-brack around the edges that look sorta pirateish and we're gonna tack them up so that they are short on him, put white knee socks underneath, make buckles for his black shoes out of cardboard and color gold or paste colored construction paper to them so they'll be gold, use a white shirt with a handkerchief (sp) for the thing that comes out of his shirt and try to find either a red jacket or a red shirt that we can make into Captain Hook's jacket. We have a pirate hat (it's not red but oh well) that we'll put a feather in and we have a hook. And he's decided now that he has to have long black hair like Captain Hook so I guess we'll be looking for a wig for him.

For Elizabeth, we wanted her to be the crocodile that goes after Captain Hook but can't find a crocodile costume. The closest I've found is a dragon. Maybe we'll figure out how to make it. Or she will be Tinker Bell and we'll just buy her a frilly, lacy nightgown.

Lisa that is too funny!! Brandon hasn't had a choice in any costume so far, he hasn't really cared. Of course, in the last few weeks, it has become Blues Clues this and that, so he would probably choose that.

The pirate Captain Hook sounds great! I have been trying to think of what to use for shoes for him. He doesn't have any black shoes. Any ideas??? (easy ideas by the way). Neighbor has a patch and a hat we can borrow and I bought a sword for $1.99 at Target last week. Need to find a white button down shirt and the red scarf.

Luckily Alexander has black spiderman shoes that we're gonna use or it would just be whatever sneakers he had. I don't have any ideas on what you could do. Hopefully somebody here will.

We buy ours. I have no sewing ability.

This year Hailey wants to be Lilo and Cori wants to be either one of the Bratz or Mulan. I may have Maci be Stitch if Hailey is Lilo but I am not sure about that. It would be super cute but I already have a Pooh honey pot costume for her.
Dh has a Tigger costume and I want to be Cruella DeVille. IF I spend the $$ for my costume then I am DEFINATLY getting a dalmation costume for Maci.
