Does anyone have an idea of what I can do with shrimp? Every shrimp seasion my Mom buys a big ice chest full of shrimp and shares with me, but I don't know what to do with it. The only way I know how to cook shrimp is to fry it, or put it in gumbo. I'm looking for something diffrent to do with it.

THANKS!

I can give you tons!

We're huge shrimp fans over here, so I've got tons of ideas!

Here's a really simple one:

1~ Fry it up in Chips & Dip batter. To me it is lighter and has a ton more flavor than traditional shrimp batter!

2~ Another easy one is to fry it in Tempura Mix. Very, very light batter that doesn't have much flavor. You can also fry up slices of zuccini, carrots, onions, mushrooms, etc. The best part is the dip .... pour some Teriyaki sauce, sugar, and white wine into a sauce pan and cook until boiling. YUM!

3~ Boil in crab boil. I use lots of crab boil and it soaks into the shrimp. After you peel the shrimp, you can still taste the spiciness!

4~ Grill em! Make a sauce out of butter, lemon juice, garlic, sugar, and teriyaki sauce. Skewer the shrimp and brush on the sauce. One of my favorites!

5~ Shrimp Scampi -- you can probably find an actual recipe online, but I just throw together a butter/garlic/wine/lemon sauce, pour over the shrimp in broiler proof ovenware. Broil until pink!

Shall I go on? I can probably think of a few more ideas, but my mouth is watering something awful right now and I'm trying to talk Mike into getting me some shrimp! LOL

If I think of more, I'll post them!

You can buy both of these mixes in the grocery store, at least around here. I think the brand name is Golden Dipt or something to that effect. It's on the aisle with the flour and bread mixes. I've also seen them in the seafood section of the grocery store, if they have them. Sometimes the Tempura mix can be found in the oriental section.

Hope that helps!
