It took nearly 3 months for me to get my period after I stopped breastfeeding (and my son was a c-section also, which I don't think has any influence on it). I began panicking as I was just terrified that I was somehow pregnant again!

My understanding is that it varies anywhere from a few weeks to several months, so I'm sure things are alright! But don't take any chances, because I'm here to tell you, surprises DO happen!

Thanks so much for the re-assurance! I guess I'll just have to keep on playing the waiting game!

It sure does vary! Mine started while I was still breastfeeding or pumping as the case may be. I guess it just depends on the person. I have also heard it may take a few months for it to start so don't start stressing yet!

With both of the boys it took me 6mo or longer to get my period once they were weaned. But with Emily i already have then and she is still breastfeeding! W'sup with that!?LOL! I was not a happy camper when i got my first one! So yes, everyone and every pregnancy/breastfeeding experience must be differant depending on your hormones. I am sure that you have nothing to worry about.

I only breastfed for 2 weeks because my baby was allergic it has been 6 weeks since she was born and I haven't started yet. I am scared to death that I am pregnant again. my husband tells me that stress can prolong the time until when you start. if I take a pregnancy test will it work?

I pretty sure that for a pregnancy test to work, you have to be at least a month pregnant, because there are not enough hormones before that time for a positive result to show.
I took one a couple of days ago, and it was negative, but I am still waiting for my period!! It has now been almost 2 months since I stopped brestfeeding! From what the othr ladies have told me, everyone is different, and it could take up to three months to get it, so hang in there, and keep us posted.

I have never heard of an infant being allergic to breastmilk. Could you please tell me how you know that your baby was or who told you that?

my baby was always spitting it up and my dr. said that she was probibly allergic to my milk and that I should switch her to formula

Wow, that is really strange b'cuz breastmilk is the most compatible form of fluid for your baby. It contains a 100 ingrediants not even found in formula b'cuz they can not duplicate them. I have never heard of a breastmilk allergy before. Did your baby stop spitting up after switching? My daughter, Emily, had a hard time with dairy products b'cuz she was a preemie and while i was nursing i had to cut out milk for awhile and she stopped throwing up. Maybe your baby was just allergic to something that you were eatting instead of being allergic to your breastmilk entirely. I can't believe that your dr wouldn't have you try switching what you were eatting first. I guess that some dr's just are uninformed or something. It's not your fault, you probably just didn't know that, or maybe i don't know all the circumstances with you. I just find it very interesting. I will have to look up some info on breastmilk alllergies. Thanks for the info. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.

BTW~welcome to babyu!
