Ben's Constipated!

I think my poor little guy is constipated. He usually poops ALOT, and since I've been giving him rice cereal, he's been pretty cranky and not popping as much. Any suggstions for relief?

I think it's pretty normal for their dirty diapers to slow down once they start eating solid food. Has he not gone at all since he started solids? As long as he doesn't seem to be in pain I think he will be fine. Once his body gets used to the solids he'll probably get back into a schedule again.

Trish,
Is Ben breastfed or bottlefed formula? Sometimes the added iron from the cereal on top of the iron that is in formula can really really stop a baby up! Poor baby! If Ben is eatting baby food already then i wouldn't give him any applesauce or bananas. They tend to stop a baby up more. Instead try peaches or pears. Just a suggestion. If you are breastfeeding, then i would just nurse him more often and maybe only give him cereal at night to help him sleep. Hope that this helps!

My suggestion is to put a little baby prune juice(diluted) in his cereal or formula/breast milk. Try that a couple of times a day..... for a couple of days, and see if it helps. That's what I did with mine if they ever got that way and it worked. If he hasn't gone within three days I would call his doctor and see what kind of laxative would be safe to give him. I think it's normal for this to happen, b/c his body is getting used to solids(his poop will be different than before). I wouldn't be alarmed unless he seems to be in pain, or doesn't go after the third day. Keep us posted!

Also Krista is right try peaches or pears instead of applesauce or bananas! Hope this helps you!
