Do you generally give the kids everything on their Christmas list?

Do your children get everything they want for Christmas?

DH & I used to spend a lot of time beating our brains out trying to find out what the nieces & nephews want for Christmas. So, we got smart & finally just got the boys gift cards (teenagers are a PAIN to buy for) and kinda wing it with the girls. I just know their interests & favorite stores then get them something. Pretty soon it will probably be gift cards for them too. Kinda takes the fun out of it, doesn't it?

Our son does not get all he asks for.

Right now Michael does not ask for much since he is still a toddler. He gets to have Daddy help him write a letter to Santa and he asks for three things he really wants and alternate toys if Santa does not have that toy ready by Christmas.

I still add a couple of things like stocking stuffers and clothing but Michael's list is of toys that he would like.

Kim, I did not even think of nieces and nephews but I have about 18 of them and I cannot afford to get them all, so my sisters and I pull names out of a hat every year.

We do it this way because they all have 3 or more kids and I only have one and I would be broke getting all their kids stuff before I could get mine anything.

We have all the kids make a list of things they would like and an alternate item if their first and second choices are not available.

I only have 5 nieces/nephews, so it's pretty manageable, especially since I don't have any kids (except Comet! LOL!) right now.

We draw names for the siblings on DH's side. That way it's much more manageable. On my side, it's just my sister, so no biggie. We all buy for our parents & In-laws.

We tired the name drawing thing for the nieces and nephews too and it ended up just me and one SIL buying so we had to buy extra for the other kids since the other adults did not buy... So I quit doing that two years ago.

Gavin is just now getting to the point where he is really asking for things. There is no way I could ever buy him everything on his "list" because his list would be never ending. We have tried for the past 2 years to get him the one thing he wants from Santa. Last year it was a gun (toy gun of course) and the year before it was a guitar.

Oh heck no. If I bought everything that was on my kids' Christmas lists I would own 2 ponies, a giant swimming pool, and a motorcycle right now.

Michael and Devon don't really ask for much, so they usually get what they want(I am sure that will change when they get a little older).

My sons are too little to make a list, but when they get older I am sure I won't get them everything they ask for.
