Help! B-day coming up

My son's 6th birthday is Sept. 8th. I have no plans or idea as of what to do. He wanted it at Chuck E Cheese but with me just going back to work after having gall bladder surgery money is kind of tight so am trying to think of something else to do. Weather is usually still warm so could do something outside but our yard isn't big enough to have all the family over (or apt. not that big)
Also can't even think of a theme for his party..he likes Power Rangers, Scooby Doo, Dora the Explorer, Star Wars to name a few. Just can't think of what to do on such short notice. Came up so fast esp. with getting stuff for school since he will be going to kindergarten this year.
Would love to hear what others have done with Sept. b-days or just b-days that came up fast. Suggestions, ideas and even what to serve would be appreciated and welcomed.
Thanks so much

You could always have a little party at a park or rent a campsite for the day. There's lots of space, and the kids can entertain themselves. Set up a babeball game, the limbo, water ballon games, get a beachball for volleyball, a soccer game, kites, blow bubbles etc.. The cost is minimal, hot dogs and chips. If there is no place that you could use a BBQ, then make sandwiches or something.

I hope I helped!

I think renting a campsite is a really great idea. Especially if there is one at a lake near you. If it is too cold for swimming (or no swimming area) you could let them fish. Boys love worms and dirt!

I would not do Chucky Cheese! We did a party at a similar place and it was horrible. It is crowded and the employees rush you through the party to make room for the next.

Unfortunately a home thrown party can cost as much as chucky cheese because you have to provide everything your self like goody bags, all the drinks, cake, foods, and paper products. And then if you add games you have to buy things for those also.

I would just a park that has a pinic shelter and serve the boys PB & J sandwich's, with chips from a couple of bags. Get store brand cheap pop. Make cupcakes, both white frosting and chocolate or a cheap cake is a jello cake, and no it doesn't have jello in it. Just a white cake mix and when it is done and still warm poke holes in cake with a fork. Make jello like direction's on the box any flavor and then pour it over the warm cake. This will give the kids some color when you cut the cake and serve them a piece. Some people frost it with Whipped CREAM. Next if you want ice cream they sell the indiviual ones of choc., vanilla, and even sherbert if that is to much money try popcicles with the ice cream in them.

Games let them play on the park toys and take some blankets and to make tents out of the pinic tables. games they can play red Rover, tag, Mother May I, Red light Green Light. I getting excited and I am not even going.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Lots of suggestions

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. I had mentioned to Jonathan about doing his party at a local park called Imagination Station...they have the climbing stuff, tons of slides, swings and even benches for us adults LOL
He wants to have his party there. They have picnic tables there but even if we can't get one I'll just bring some chairs and blankets for the kids (chairs for the grandparents). I know my kids and nephes love going there..have to take them home crying most of the time.
My MIL said she would make her potatoe salad (I love hers) and my mom said she would bring something and then I think we will go with a meat tray (I'll make it myself..it's cheaper) and some chips.
Thank you all for the suggestions I loved them all. Will let you all know how it goes when we have it.
