Age for trick or treating alone?

How old were your kids when you felt they were old enough to go trick or treating without adult supervision?

I was probably 12 or so.

I'd say 10-12 if they were going in a group and staying in their own neighborhood.

I agree with Elaine and Jennifer.. But should kids still be trick or treating when they're 12???

I never went trick-or-treating by myself. My parents/grandma/aunts always took us because it was so far between houses, and we lived in the country. We weren't allowed to go trick-or-treating after we were out of elementary school, either. We could go to things at school or costume parties, but not begging for candy. I think it depends on the maturity of the child and how well they know the neighbors. I have some friends that let their 6 year old trick or treat alone in a new neighborhood while they wre gone to church. I think that was a little much.

I think when I was 12 I went alone. I think it would just depend on the child and where they were going!
