NOT #8

Cause if you are looking for the name of a certain Native American I am well and truely sunk

Unless it is Hiawatha (sp) or Pocahontas(sp) or another Disney cartoon, otherwise I'm drawing a blank here, come on you Americans this is your holiday you must know the story behind it.

All I know is that the first winter at the first major settlement, starvation was a very real possiblity, followed closely by death by freezing or illness - caused by starvation and freezing. The settlement was saved when the local Native Americans bought the survivors food (I think turkey and squash - and I don't even know what squash is

). In memory of the generosity of spirit shown by the Native Americans and to remember how grateful they were, the settlement decided the honour the anniversary of their gift of life by Giving Thanks.
OK now does someone want to ask #8 and who wants to tell me how many details I got horribly wrong

, I didn't even know I had gleaned so much info over the years, so I really would be interested in how close I come to the real story and maybe a link to the "Thanksgiving Story"
