We talk about the season, discuss that during this time many people harvest what they are growing and share what they have with family and friends.

We talk about giving thanks for the things we have. He sort of has an idea since we are covering the Thanksgiving theme for homeschooling.

We are trying to teach him that on Thanksgiving Day, we gather together as a family and share what we have and thank God for everything he has given us.

For Michael to understand, I explain that he can thank God for his toys, for having a home and food to eat, for helping him when he is sick or hurt, etc.

We plan to do the same as you are but haven't begun yet. It's hard when they are so young for them to understand the big idea but it does help when you break it down into things they do understand, like their toys, family, etc.
