What you need:
1 1/2 toilet paper roll tubes
Piece of construction paper
Glue
Small foam circles and triangles (or can be cut from construction paper)
One 2 x 1-inch piece of construction paper
One 4-inch piece of pipe cleaner
Several small shapes (like diamonds, triangles, and squares) cut from construction paper or tissue paper in fall colors like yellow, orange, brown, dark green, red and tan.
What to do:
1. Position the 1/2 tube in the middle and on top of the complete tube. Glue it in place.
2. While the glue is drying, trace the child's hands onto a piece of construction paper, then let him/her cut out the shape of his/her hand.
3.Glue colored bits of paper to the fingers of their cut-out hand. The fingers are the turkey feathers.
4. Put some glue on the palm of the construction paper hand and stick it to the back of the top paper roll. While the child is gluing you can trace your hand and cut it out. Glue it to the bottom of the tube.
5. The child can glue the foam circles onto the top roll for eyes. If you have different-sized circles, they can put a smaller circle on top of a larger circle for a more realistic looking eye.
6.Next the child can glue the triangle on the top roll for a beak (one triangle pointing down).
7. Glue any leftover paper shapes to the bottom roll for decorative look.
8. Bend the pipe cleaner in half.
9. Put glue on the 2" x 1" piece of paper, lay a small end
of the pipe cleaner 'V" in the glue on the paper. Then stick
the paper to the bottom of the turkey with legs pointing forward. This will stabilize the turkey and he will be able to sit upright on a table or shelf.
