Anyone have any ideas on inexpensive homemade costumes if you don't sew?

I know...that's asking alot!

You can take those footed pajamas and make them into just about anything. Last year I made Cody a skunk. Took a pair of black PJs, purchased a headband with ears at the dollar store, and bought a piece of white furry looking cloth. I cut a stripe out and hand stitched it in a couple of places down the back, then sewed up a tail, stuffed it and tacked it to the rear end.

Everyone commented on what an adorable little skunk he was and thought I was so crafty for making it myself. LOL Joke was on them! Nothing to it!

You could also make a little devil with red PJs and a black tail, a bunny rabbit with white or pink PJs, a clown with bright colored PJs ... the list goes on. Best part is that the PJs are reusable for the rest of winter!

I'll find a picture of Cody as a skunk and post it for you! Guess it's time to start thinking about this year!

Also -- I made Jessi a fairy, but it wasn't quite as cost effective. I bought a white leotard and tights at Target. To that, I added a cheapy costume from the party store -- it was a pair of wings, head piece and a little fairy wand. I painted her face with stars and add sparkles to it.

Can't tell you what the total price was -- if your child happens to have leotards and tights already, it would probably be under $10. However, I was looking at the patterns for making Disney costumes the other day. The pattern alone was $13 -- which seemed ridiculous!

I'm thinking of doing Peter Pan and Tinkerbell if I get creative enough!

Tim and I plan on making Michael's costume this year. We borrowed the idea of a elmo costume we saw online. The price of the costume they wanted was $43.00, which in my opinion is too much.

We are going to get a red sweat suit (Top/Pants), red baseball cap/or make a cap and apply big eyes on it. I think it would look just as good as a store bought one.

Princess Hat

I haven't done this...but it came to me today at Wal-Mart.

At Wal-mart, in the craft department, they had a little stand-like-thing, with Halloween crafts and Christmas crafts. You know, the stocking you make yourself....and things like that. Well, I saw this plastic cone, inwhich you make a Christmas Angel out of (they have the instructions on it)...well...if you take the cone (which cost 97 cents here) and then bought so see-through cloth (or any light wieght, pretty cloth) (you can get purple...green...blue...). And some glue and sparkles. Use the glue and sparkles to coat the cone. Let dry. Take the cloth and run it throught the hole in the top (you can also add matching ribbon). Tie a knot in the cone part to keep it from slipping through. Use a hole punch to punch holes in either side. Tie on matching ribbon to each hole. This is to hold the hat on your "Princess".

So you need:
A plastic cone
Glue
Spapkles
Cloth (see-though, or some other light pretty cloth)
Ribbon
Hole punch

Kids and adult lego costumes (parents Magazine ) take old cardboard boxes and plastic drinking cups glue them on either in groups of 4,6 or 8 and paint it any color.then you get the same color sweatsuit, gloves, hat and mittens then you make a smaller one for the head attach it too the hat and you have a lego.It may be spendy but they look soo cute.
