Ham...help please.

I'm making a baked ham for Thanksgiving. I have NEVER done this...I have no idea how to even begin. Please !

I bought a ham yesterday. My mom said something about cherries and pineapples so I got those too. What do you do to the ham before you bake it? How long to bake and what temp?

I do not know the specifics that you are asking for BUT whenever I used to bake them, I would pour Dr Pepper or Coke on it while it was baking. It makes it soooooo juicy and good!!

Michelle, I have done hams before. I have done them with cloves on top, cherries & pineapple & such. My favorite way.... take your ham & put it in the roasting pan (there should be a time & temp on the package, if not, pm me & I'll get it for ya! ), put pineapple rings on top (secure with toothpicks) and pour some ginger ale (we used Vernor's in Michigan) over it and bake. It gives it a slightly sweet taste with a hint of ginger. The pineapple rings come out yummy after baking... almost like a candy.

PM me if ya want more info! Good luck, Hon!

COKE?!?! I don't think I've ever heard that...weird!

Makes sense...does it make a kinda glaze?

Um, if you want it less salty i htink you could soak it for a bit. I would prolly at least rinse it before baking. You can take toothpicks to hold the pineapple and cherries on. OR, you could make a brown-sugar glaze, which is my favorite!

I kinda thought it was a Louisiana thing. I have some good friends in Houma and they are the ones who made it for me that way the first time. It really is good.

I like the glaze because it'ds sweet and crusty! I love the salty/sweet taste of ham! But, not with pineapples

I pack brown sugar on the outside and poke cloves in it and pineapple. (never tried cherries) then I use Mt. Dew! My DH and family say my ham is the best!

Cook according to the package instructions...

Good luck!

Oh and I dont know if you have this brand but we always use Cook's.
