DECLINED?? Are you sure? ME??

I went to Walgreens a little bit ago to use up the remaining $50 on our flex card before the year was up.
I get to the register and it comes to $47 something. Give him the mastercard. DECLINED. He asks if I want him to run it again. I tell him YES. I had checked the balance before I left so I knew how much to spend.
Runs it again. DECLINED.
I have him take off something for $10. That is $37. Declined.
I go to my car and get my cell phone and call dh. He verifies that it is $50 remaining via the web.
I call the flex account people. WELLLLLLLL, apparently they do not accept charges after 8 pm CST on Dec 31st. HUH?? It is still the year 2003. I should be able to get to my money. Nope.
And this is one of those things that if you do not use it, you lose it. Well, we lost it.

I hate being declined. That is so embarassing!!!! Especially when I am CERTAIN that it is going to go through. I mean, it is a different story when you kinda have a feeling that it may or may not go through.

Oh man that is insane...if its 8pm CSt....is it still not dec 31 even in new york>???? DUH on them!!

We have a medical flexible spending account where a certain amount of dh's salary goes and it does not get taxed. They gave us a mastercard to access that money. We can by over the counter meds and any medical expenses with that. If we do not use it by the end of the year then we just lose it.

I was declined at Wal Mart a few months ago using my debit card. I was so embarrased! I knew that there was more than enough money in my checking account to cover the total so I called the bank while standing right there in line. Come to find out there was a problem with Wal Marts credit card system and I was the first to use it after it went down. Even though it wasn't my fault, I was still SO EMBARRASED! I made sure my voice was loud enough for everyone to hear me when I said "my bank says I have the funds to cover this transaction, her computer says that there is a problem with YOUR phone line."

Oh, I would be ticked if I lost $50 and got embarrased in a store because of some stupid rule like that!

Ugh, being declined is the worst! No matter who you are there is always someone looking at you like you're a peice of crap. Like they know! Sorry that happened.

Is the time info in the info packet from the MSA company? Then they covered their buts. Technically, you should be able to make the purchase and then file a claim to get the last of those funds, at least that is how mine works, cause I have until April 15th to claim any purchases through the end of the year.

I am sorry you lost the money, that sux!!! They shouldn't be ending it at 8pm!!!! Sounds like the company is lazy!

Uggghh.... I had my CC DECLINED when I was Christmas shopping! Sorry.... I know I haven't spent to the limit! Well, turns out the CC company noticed "a lot of activity" on my account.... (HEL-LO-OOOOOO..... it's the Day after Thanksgiving and I'm Christmas shopping! ) All that "genius" in Sears Tool Dept. had to do was to call the company & clear it with them, but NOoooooooooo.... the butthead re-ran my card & it locked the account!

I guess I should be happy they watch so closely, but that was so flippin embarassing!

No joke....

So I called DH to complain to him (I was so PISSED!) and the credit card company called him BEFORE he could call them. As soon as he verified we were shopping, they unlocked the account & I could charge again. But I was po'd and used another card the rest of the day!
