I e-mail Randy's Step Mom and thanked her for the wonderful things she did for my kids for Christmas and pretty much spoiling them. I told her of what my dad had done and this is what I got in return...
I'm sorry that you didn't have a great Christmas with your dad. I know how awful it is, believe me. I've had many of those in my life. Christmas with my dad when he hardly remembered that it was Christmas. (And birthdays that he still does not acknowledge). That's really why I don't go to my mother's very often anymore, either (and if you remember, it used to be every other year).
Things change, and it's tough to take. But you have us, and we're your family now if you want us to be. And you know that Grandma is always ready for more family! Hell, she never gets rid of the family she's had for 50 years or more. You know Grandma. Lots of love always. And I may not always be the best granny or mother-in-law, but I'm here and always will be.
Don't cry.
