I went to one for the first time on Monday night to listen to them discuss the budget and closing DD's school. They gave us handouts of where the money goes and how much every little thing costs. It really surprised me how much they have to spend on some things and how complicated it is to plan a budget for a school system. And it's especially hard when the so-called "education governor" keeps slashing amount of money the schools get from the state of Ohio.

They make the board meetings here public in the paper.

It is really bad this year for ALL schools I think. Around here they are talking abour merging some elementary schools in another school district because the state cut their budget so much. The school just got a little of their money that they should have gotten at the beginning of the school year.

Makes me wonder where our school tax is going because it sure doesn't seem to helping the school very much!

I know what you mean, Wendy. The states say they're collecting and setting money aside for education, but it sure doesn't seem that way. And The No Child Left Behind Act is making it even harder for our schools because there are some things that they can't even consider dropping from the budget if they want to meet the standards of the At.
