family & your inlaws get together for 'functions' or just to spend time together?

When was the last time your in-laws and your parents spent time together? (and if other than on the holidays, was it a special event or just to be social?)

We spent time together tonight. We live next door to each other so I always bring Ethan over for a visit because they LOVE to see him.

That's an easy one! The wedding! We don't talk to Billy's family anymore.....

Oh, and there was no socializing at the wedding with Billy's family, we were just all in the same church.

They only get together for birthday parties. Dh and I have been married ten years, and I'd say they've been together as a group less than 20 times.

No, we dont sadly. I dont have a mother in law (she was a nut and gave up her kids at the age of 3 to get married ) and my father in law is in Tx, I miss him , I love him!! and my family is 6 hours away, so they are too far!

Yep they get along great! Whenever my family has a function, the inlaws are always invited!

My in-laws do not get together hardly at all. They are just very busy people and they live far apart. So...dh and I spend our holidays driving from one to the other.

Nope Mi parents live in Daytona beach FL and Ed's live up here and winter in southern FL.

My famiy lives 4-5 hours away so it is hard for the my parents and his mom to meet for events and my brother and his GF work outside business hours. We were together for Christmas though.

My Mother and Brother live in Utah. My husbands two aunts live here, but his Mother lives in CA w/her Hubby and his Father lives in Kentucky. Things are strained at best when we all get together (although people "make nice") because when MIL pulled her little stunt a couple of years ago, SHE (alone) was trying to get custody of the boys, and would've been able to say yeah or nap to the other grandparents....you get the pic.

The last time was Issac's bday party on monday.

Well, usually get spewcial occasions. We all got together for Elizabeth's birthday back in August.

Well, they all love seeing the kids, so we get together a couple of times a week for dinner or something. My MIL comes over for lunch at least once during the week.

Only for my kids parties.

I've tried long and hard to think of the last time my In Laws and my Parents were at the same function, and it would have to be the boys 1st birthday. They will be 12 in a months time LOL

DS's first birthday and dedication... Aug 2002. When we are down visiting in Florida, my mom will come over to SIL.

Olivia's birthday party. We live 2 hours away from my IL's so we don't see them too often. Occasionally when they are visiting we'll have my dad over so they can all visit with each other.

Nope. My MIL drives my Dad insane.

The last time they saw each other, My Inlaws stopped at my parents house to visit (be nosey). All MIL did was talk about herself and insult others. Very charming.

Nope.
When dh and I were living in MS (and I was pg with Hailey), his parents drove down to see us. THis was just the 2nd time I had ever met them. My parents came over to our house that night as well. MIL made some nasty comments to my mom about how I was raised (VERY negatively) so that did not sit too well with my mom.
WHen we moved to IL, my parents came up to visit us several times (the in-laws lived up there in the same town as us) but each time, the in-laws would not come over at all.
Suits my parents fine. They have NO respect for dh's family. RIGHTFULLY so.

the only time my inlaws and my parents were all at the same thing was our wedding

They don't "hang" out together (thank goodness!!!!)

I just saw my mil 3 days ago, my step-fil yesterday, and my fil thankfully not for a LONG time!

When Scott and I were dating, we had more 'together' functions.. I thought the 2 families had really hit it off. For holidays both were always invited, and even to my sister's parties, they were invited as well.

Then something happened and my family stopped getting invited to things - esp Scotts grandparents yearly anniversary party. My father loves their whole family and my MIL didnt invite him, even though he knew it was a yearly thing and I had mentioned it to her...

We have not had a full family get together now with my family and inlaws in a long time. The last time we had anything would have been Ryan's bday, and even then - only my FIL and BIL came, not the whole family.

Nope. Never. They live 900+ miles away from each other.
