Hi Lesley!

We have a conversation going on over in the Pregnancy boards about having your membranes stripped to help induce labor. Although many of us have had it done, none of us knew "technically" what the process was.

Could you shed a little light on the subject? What exactly IS stripping the membranes???

Hey Dawn!

How are you! Ah, yes. The ole stripping membranes question. Well, what it is is a technique done by the Doctor to separate the amnionic sac from the cervix. Hard to describe, so here is a web page on it :
