Well, I posted a few weeks ago that I heard a rumor about my brother and sister-in-law. Well...
I got an e-mail from my mom on Saturday saying that they were separated and that alcohol was involved, and that she'd write later with more details.
Last night we got another e-mail that basically gave us these details:
James went by my mom’s house yesterday, but she was at Wal-Mart. He left her a note that he was there and brought both of the boys by. She said she wished she’d been there. She talked to him on the phone Saturday, but he won’t tell her what happened. He says he doesn’t want to go back to the house (my dad’s house, which they were renting…) alone. He has been staying with my stepsister and her family. My BIL has been trying to get him to talk and tell him what’s going on, but James won’t say anything. All he will say is that they went out and he got drunk. He doesn’t remember anything happening that night, but he remembers waking up the next day and hearing someone knock on the door. He opens it and it is his wife saying she came to get some more of her stuff. She told him he said some really mean things to her. He says he doesn’t remember what happened, but in the next sentence he says whatever he did was provoked. I know how he operates. He’s just like my dad. And it’s probably true that he doesn’t remember, because when my dad gets wasted, he doesn’t remember $#!+, either! But I know they are ugly to each other all the time, and she wouldn’t have left unless he physically harmed her (or the kids) or threatened to. And since he refuses to talk, you know he’s feeling guilty about something.
I could just
that boy!!!
I told Bob last night that I wish we had money. I'd go get both of those little boys and get them out of that mess. They don't have much chance with their parents together. And they have far less chance with their parents apart.

I just hoped he'd learned his lesson. Guess not. I just feel so sorry for those poor little boys.
