Believers, fasting is decreed for you, in the same way that it was decreed for those before you, as a means of guarding yourselves against evil.

Lord! I seek refuge in You
from adversities, weaknesses, indolence,
cowardice, avarice, indebtedness,
and being victimized by the populace.

Blessed are the believers who are worthy of trust, who keep their promises, and who never neglect their prayers. They are the heirs of paradise; they will live there forever.

Lord! I depend upon You alone;
in You I place my faith.
I seek refuge in You,
for there is no God but You.
Only You, my Lord, are the Infinite;
all else shall pass away.

-The Prophet Muhammad, as reported by Ahd'Allah ibn Abbas

He created animals to provide you with warm clothing, food, and many other benefits. How beautiful they look when you lead them from their pasture and bring them home! They carry your loads to far-off lands; without them you could not reach those lands, except with great effort. Your Lord is compassionate and merciful. He has created horses, mules and donkeys, which you may ride, or you may keep for pleasure. He has created many things beyond your knowledge.

-Qur'an, An-Nahl, Surah 16:5-8

You're welcome Mishka!

You're also the answer to a prayer! Let me explain....

I've been wondering the last couple of days especially on whether or not to continue posting these 'wisdom' threads from non-Christian faiths. It seems like they've gotten few looks, let alone comments. (I think yours is like the 2nd...maybe third.) It's come up more than once in my own prayers for the week. In fact, today would have probably been the last day.

In my faith, I've been taught that if I can 'reach' even/just one person (going on the assumption that this is a good thing and causes no harm to others), well... Thank you so much. You may have just made my day.

Ohhh when you do anything it is only for the sake of God noone else, this is what my family and i do in our everyday life.. If it is good It only comes from God and anything bad always comes from myself or Iblis.. So everything I do is only for the sake of God and God's willing when I do something God blesses it .. I hope I did not confuse you ...

No...I think I understand. The old "man cannot serve two masters" thought. If one is serving oneself, s/he could not be serving God at the same time.
