Thanksgiving traditions

Does anyone have any special Thanksgiving traditions they would like to share?

I really enjoy one that my husband's family does. After the meal is over everyone goes around the table and tells at least one thing they are thankful for.

How simple is that? We had never done anything like that at my family (usually at my grandmother's and it is wild with so many people!) I think that it is nice to really think about your life and to be thankful for the many blessings God has given us. It really can give you a much more positive attitude. Actually, it's really good to do that on any day you're feeling down. Often, things aren't really as bad as they seem

We don't really do anything special like that on Thanksgiving.
I wish we did so that I had something to pass on to my kids (If I ever start having thanksgiving at home)

We used to do the going around the table thing, too, but have learned that it is a lot of pressure and you can't always think because your mouth is salivating for that food!!

What we do now is all month long in November is to write down things that we are thankful for on small strips of construction paper, including the children. We read them aloud after dinner on Thanksgiving ( all of us - My SIL's family and mine and DH's mom), and then the kids use them to make a long chain - the chain is used as a decoration on our Christmas tree!!!

What a great idea! I like using them to make a chain on the Christmas tree!

We always talk AFTER we eat or else we'd probably be too hungry too!
