I know we have been at war for a while.....mainly with words back and forth from country to the Taliban. I heard we bombed Afghanistan and we are waiting for retaliation now

Scary! And here I was having a normal Sunday! We were watching movies and Den went somewhere and heard on the radio we bombed Afghanistan! Now it is time to be glued to the TV once again to see what is going on!

I just wish they would hand Ossama Bin Laden over so we can end this! I don't believe Terrorism will be over but at least this guy who wants us all to be gone will be locked away!

I guess we are at war! The United States will have air strikes all day on Afghanistan.

They will be dropping off food for the Afghan refugees. They will be doing this through air drops!

It surprised me that we started a war on a Sunday! It shouldn't surprise me but I guess it does.

What are everyone's views on this?

I have been watching CNBC all day trying to figure out exactly what is going on.
It is really scary to me.
I doubt the Taliban would ever give us Bin Laden. I wouldn't doubt that he is paying them alot and also they probably fear his retaliation.

I am not afraid, but it did anger me to hear Bin Laden say that american will know no peace or safety until his country can know peace and safety, WELL............If he hadn't decided to fly OUR airplanes into buildings in OUR country, maybe HIS country wouldn't be worried about OUR country bombing them!

I mean, come on! what did he expect us to do after that, sit back and just let it happen and do nothing?!? and I thought i knew stupidity before.

Wendy

I was thinking the same thing today...bombing on a Sunday. Then once we discussed it a bit, we realized that it was technically Monday morning in Afganistan when they bombed it.

It sure is awful...and scary. Those poor innocent people in Afganistan. THEY in general don't even support the Taliban and yet now their country is under attack. I am praying. I don't even know what else to say except to keep praying for understanding.

I was kind of surprised because I thought that they were going to only use ground troops for now to go to the camps and fight. So that bombing was a surprise to me. I guess as long as they are bombing the training camps and the places where the Talibean are, that is ok with me. I do feel sorry for the Afghanistan refugees and I'm glad we are at least drop shipping food and stuff for them!

I'm more angry than scared now at Osama and the Talibean. What do they think we are? We're not gonna give up this fight!!! Osama will be surprised that even if he dies of natural causes - he'll be in a place much worse!!!!! Then where will his armies be?

Cheryl!

I agree he will be in a place much worse when he dies....no matter how he dies it will not change where he will go!

I am also more angry than I am scared! But I am waiting for something to happen because I know it can happen now! We are not invincible and bad things can happen to us! I know we are on guard everywhere but bad things can happen to us!

I agree Wendy - I was a little surprised that it was a Sunday too, but I guess that's what they wanted -surprise!!

It's strange though, first drop bombs, and then drop food!
I know that the innocent people are not the enemies but still kinda weird. What I have been wondering is this: If all the people in Afghanistan love Bin Laden so much, how do they feel now that the U.S is the one feeding them?? Wouldn't that change their view on the U.S.??

I hope so. There needs to be some changes in Afghanistan anyway - I hope that the Taliban is overthrown...because the women in Afghanistan are treated like they are beneath animals...have you heard about this?/ Womaen there are not allowed out in public unless they have special clothes that covers all of their skin, and then only with a male relative. Also, they can be beaten for everything..including laughing, and are not allowed to go to doctors or school?

Also, I saw on the news one night where the U.S. had built a soccer field in Afghanistan for the children, but the Taliban has decided to use it as a grounds for their public executions...point blank with a rifle, I might add...when it was complained about to Afghanistan, they stated that if the U.S. didn't like what they were using it for, they should build them a stadium for executions so the kids could have their soccer field back...they are twisted, I tell you!!

Sorry i got so carried away with this post, but I couldn't help it!

How horrible!

I have not heard about the soccer field! That is just awful!

They do not think the Taliban will disband. In fact they feel more stongly that they will stick together and move to the mountains!

I knew the bombing was going to happen, but now that it has started, I am worried about our country and our men and women who will be sent to fight this war. I agree that we have to defend democracy and freedom, but it is such a shame that the innocent people of Afghanastain who weren't involved and who didn't want the terrorists attacks to happen are going to suffer. I am glad that the food/medicine drops will continue.

And about it starting on a Sunday, their weekend is Friday & Saturday and Sunday is the start of their week. So, if it was still Sunday there, it wouldn't have been like bombing them on their Sabbath day like it would be here.

and now they are waiting for retaliation. That scares me. I am not as scared as I could be though, because of other things I have posted. But I worry about families who will be losing loved ones in this stupid war. And yes I think it is stupid, not that we are fighting back, but that it had to start in the first place.

I have to admit, i am a little anxious about retaliation too...especially since we live in Maryland - not THAT far from D.C. - but I will not live in fear - I will live as before all of this happened..

It still amazes me that one month ago today none of this had happened yet.
