Gerber Sippy Cups

Grrrr... I don't like them anymore. (Gerber Sippy Cups)

80% of Kylers sippy cups are Gerbers. I liked them because they came in so many different styles and shapes. It was easy for Kyler's little hands to hold on to them.
Plus, he knows one shape is for milk, one is for juice, one is for water.

I also have a few of the playtex cups - the insulated ones - so if we are going out for a while, I'll use those.

anyways - my point...

Gerber sells the inside attachment to replace the old one once it's been used and it's old.
Well, the inside attachements have become "loose" in our cups. They fall out. So, it's like Kyler is drinking from a regular cup and he gags, chokes, etc. Since he's not expecting it to POUR out.
So - I go out and by the replacements.
THEY DIDN'T WORK AT ALL. It's not the replacement piece that's a problem. The problem is the entire top!!! (This is on MOST of my gerber cups. NOT just one of them.)
The hole (where the attachment goes and where the liquid comes through) has loosened up and gotten slightly bigger. So even the brand new attachements are loose and they fall right out.

I have a few that are still usable. After that - for the next baby - I don't think I'll be buy many, IF ANY, gerber.

i agree with you on that Shari!

i only have one gerber as i have been trying one of each style and brand for now.... and just Logan dropping the cup from his highchair makes the valve pop out... then spill everywhere, i thought that was the point of a sippy cup.. no spills?

We had that problem that if Lys dropped it the valve popped out too! I thought I was just inept at putting them in right! Glad to know it wasn't just me! We ahve ben using playtex ones now for like the last 6 months. I love them and I have replaced the valves a few times without problems!

Wow i have not had a problem with Liz's gerber sippy cups at all.....in fact, for a while there we were having a problem with the playtex ones

I've never tried the Gerber ones, sorry they are giving you trouble. I used the Playtex cups with Michael and Devon and never had a problem. I'm thinking about getting one for Nicholas soon.

UGH what a pain!! We basically only have the Playtex Insulated ones... (which of course is one I LOST at the Easter Egg hunt)

But we have a similar problem with 2 of our other weird sippy cups, they dont have the rubber thing at all, they just have the mouth piece but for some reason our entire top doesnt screw on and it leaks everywhere

Try the ones made by "The First years" there is no valve, it's built in, so nothing to fall out/come loose.

I don't have any Gerber ones but I really like the Playtex ones. I'll have to try the First Years ones if I buy anymore since they are all-in-one.

I would email the company and let them know you are dissatisfied

I have not had that problem yet, but thanks for the heads up!

What's frustrating to me is that we are trying to teach Kyler how to drink from a regular cup... but it's a slow process. And I REALLY don't want to go out and buy all new sippy cups just for the next few months.

We have used these cups for about a year and a half. Maybe that's just the life of the cup?

I think I'm going to buy one or two of those First Year Cups you ladies have mentioned and try those. I THINK they are cheaper than gerber and playtex too - right?

The first years are cheaper and work great. They even have them as toss and go if you are traveling that are spill prood too.
i use the avent adn platex adn have not had problems with either. Call gerber and they may send you a new one or coupons.

I just sent Gerber and email explaining my situation and asking them if they sell JUST the tops (not the valves and not the whole cup.)

Lets see what they say...

Thanks ladies!!

You can go to www.planetfeedback.com and comlplain to gerber. I did becouse of the same problem and they sent me coupons to replace some of the cups. Its better than just feeling like you are waisting your money.
