Maybe I'm a little old fashioned, but when I was 5 years old, there was NO WAY my mother would have let me walk 2 blocks to my friend's house. Is that common nowadays?

I wouldn't allow it. My ten year old has softball practice in a half hour, and I'm reluctant to not stay there and keep an eye on her. I figure a ball park full of kids is a pervert's paradise.

I would never let mine walk 2 blocks away at age 5!

OMG who in their right mind would let a five year old do that in the first place????I am sorry but I would never in a million years allow Liz to walk 2 blocks alone....even not when she is 6 or 7....or maybe even 10....you can't trust the perverts that are out ther

That just floors me. I live in a small town and I am questioning letting Brittany who will be 6 1/2 walk 3 blocks straight to school in fall.

This is a definate NO now!

I would never let my dd walk that far by herself, but my mother let us walk all the way into town to my grandma's house (about a mile maybe a little more) all the time when I was even younger. I don't think if my parents much cared what happened to me though.
