neutral names?

How do you feel about neutral names? Would you ever pick out one name that could be for a girl or a boy? Why or why not?

I think they are great. I have seen Cody and Tyler both as girl names also, so I guess I'm in that category already.

I went to HS with a girl named Taylor and that is my cousin's husbands name.....

It's a pretty cool neutral name I think!!

I go more for gender specific names.. but I do like Tyler.. Taylor.. Morgan..

But everytime I hear the name morgan I think of the movies the beverly hillbillies. The one kid says "Oh look. Theres Morgan.. Big M.. little organ" LMAO I crack up every time!!! LOL

I know several men iwth "feminine" names. Lynne and Kim are the most common

I'd be more apt to name a girl a name commonly thought of as male rather than vice versa. There's nothing wrong with men named Shannon, Kim, Lynn, etc, but I just wouldn't name my boy anything like that.

I'm not a fan. When I read a name, I like knowing if it refers to a male or a female. I think what usually happens with neutral names is eventually they become associated with females. I can think of several men over the age of 25 with names like Kim, Stacy, Dana, and Lynn, but I don't know of anyone who has named a little boy one of those names because people have come to think of them as girl names.

Another thing...

I've seen marriage announcements in the paper when Terry married Terri. I suppose someday I'll be reading about Logan and Logan, Taylor and Taylor, Jordan and Jordan, etc. I just think it sounds funny.

I like Jamie.

I like alot of the gender neutral names but I would not name my child one because then no one ever knows if the child is male or female unless you already knew them. I also like traditional spellings, since if people don't know how to spell the names, they generally default to the most "normal" spelling. Sorry this sounds sloppy, but I am about ready for bed.

My husband likes Ryan for a girl ... I would maybe change the spelling tho ..... but then again, his name is Tyler

Personally, I'm not a fan.

Well, since Cori is one that is used as a boy name more often, I would have to say that I like them. I would not name a boy a more girlie name though. We have never had anyone question if she was a girl or boy though because we always spell it out for them.

The only neutral name I would give my daughter is Karson. I love the name and since my grandfather's name was Carson, I think it would be appropriate. Billy doesn't like the name but has agreed that child #3's middle name will be either Karson or Carson.

Personally, I'm not a fan either. I especially dislike the name Leslie.

I would have to say that I am a fan, hence Rhyne.

I love the name Mason and I have only heard it used for a boy, but if I had a girl, I am considering Masyn or something like that. I am all for it!
