I need to register Cora this week or next week for Kindergarten.
Also, I have to take her in for her 5-year physical that the school needs before school starts.
All of this only means that my little baby girl is growing up.
She is excited though.
Last fall, some time after Thad had left, she was sitting in my bed one night. She just started crying. I asked her what was wrong. She said she didn't want to go to Kindergarten. I held her and reassured her that Kindergarten was a bit further down the road. (She had to finish her last year of preschool first.) She said she didn't mind being at school. She just wanted to skip Kindergarten and go straight to first grade.
I thought that was odd. I asked her why. She said she didn't want to be like those Kindergarteners on Recess! LOL
She has been fine now for some time. She is looking forward to Kindergarten.
I think she wants to go so badly because the neighbor's daughter will still be at the same school. She has always wanted to go to "Olivia's school" since she met Olivia. Olivia will be in the 6th grade next year, her last year at this school. Cora has this notion, and I guess it is ok, that she and Olivia will walk home together every day after school. (It is only about a block.)
She adores Olivia and looks up to her like an older sister. She has asked me if Olivia could be her big sister. I wasn't sure what to say. Olivia goes a day care after school for the entire night. (Her dad works evening shift.) Then, they are gone on the weekends that he has her. So, Olivia isn't around very much. However, Cora is convinced that she can spend a lot of time with Olivia and learn from her.
Good thing Olivia is a great kid!
