I had read, rather recently, too, that a really good way to concieve is to take birth control pills for three months to regulate your periods and then seriously try the forth month.
I've never heard of that either. I can't imagine that the BC pill would be any help at all, considering it can stay in your system for up to 3mos. after taking it.
I've heard of ppl taking the BC pill to get pregnant, in fact I read an article about it in a pregnancy magazine...I can't remember all what it said though.
hmmmm...well, I take Prometrium to get AF but that is because I don't get them on my own. I heard that the bc stays in your system too...but maybe there is a process or a catch to taking them to get pregnant
I've always heard you should be off BC for at least 3 months before TTC in order to get the hormones out of your system. I've never heard about using BC for TTC.
My sister is actually doing this now. She just started BC last month and will try to conceive again in July. My doctor put me on glucophage or metformin to regulate my periods which has worked great. I am not sure which is best, I'm sure it depends on the individual.
I have only heard that you should use protection for 3 months after stopping bc too so that you don't risk birth defects or miscarriage if you get pg with the hormones in your system still
I think everyone is different. I was of BC on month then got PG with Desi. When I went to see my DR last time I told her I wanted to TTC again in May she said it was fine for me to get off the pill in April then. She said that they suggest people get off the pill soon only if there periods are not regular. Got me....
I'm not sure if that is a good idea. Leah is right about the BC pill staying in your system for 3 mos. or so. I have always counseled patients that if they were going to try and conceive, they should use another form of BC for 3 months. The BC pill can cause birth defects.
I was on depo for waaaaaaaaaaay too long. I didn't have a period after the second shot. Finally I wanted to go on the pill. I was told to wait until my period started. Well that wasn't happening. I had been off depo for a few months and nothing. Finally I just did the Sunday start on the pill pack and everything returned to "normal". I stayed on the pill for a few months. I started getting horrible headaches so I went off it and used NFP. That worked well since I charted and took my temp, ect. Immediately after stopping the pill my periods went back to the way they were before the pill and before depo. They stayed that way until I got pregnant a year later. NFP only works if your husband listens to you when you say THIS ISN'T A GOOD TIME UNLESS YOU WANT A BABY.
my doctor did that too. my periods are very INfrequent tomorrow is my last pill from the three months. she seems to think i may ovulate. I don't get it.
