I'm not that brave - even if Jared hadn't been a csec, there would
definately been drugs involved !!

Things went so quickly, I got nothing. Nada. Zilch. And I was NOT happy about it.

With Austin I had a few doses of Nubain that totally WORKED! LOL

Dylan I pretty much got phenergan. They gave me some nubaine but diluted it WAYYY too much!! It made me sleepy!

I had something in an iv for about 15 minutes. My midwife is all about NATURAL! So the nurse had given me an IV and when my Dr got there she said to take it out. Which was ok with me I wanted natural and I want this one as natural as possible too (barring a c-sec.)
With all three live births I went totally natural. I don't think I took extra-strength Tylenol until much later. With the miscarriage, I was given Tylenol 3 afterwards.

Me with both the kids. Afterwards, I had Motrin but that was it.

LOL Judy! I was HAPPY that mine were extremly quick. I wasn't in pain for hours. Once I start contractions I have them for about an hour and am ready to go....lol.

Okay there was a point in both deliverys that I stood up in the stir ups and screamed I wanted drugs...

But unfortunately I had passed my window of oppertunity that I needed to receive them. I just looked at the doctor and said "WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT IS TOO LATE!!!"

Then you know that was when that breathing came in handy!

LOL Jan!!
I hear ya, Jan. I asked (no, begged), too, but was told it was too late. I then politely asked the nurse to kill me, instead.

Judy!!

I wanted to try natural the first time but since I was induced with Al, the pain was absolutely horrendous and I started with a shot of something and then went to an epidural that once it started working some, they turned off because it was time to push.

El was a c-section so of course I had an epidural with her.

With the next, I would like to try natural just to see what the pain would be like without pitocin (sp?) but I am not at all opposed to drugs.

I laboured at home b4 going to the hospital. It was a 3 hour labour from start to finish. I had no drugs even though I had written up a birth plan. It was extremely painful. I gave birth about 5 minutes after arriving at the hospital.
I went natural with both boys. Cedric was too fast to even try something.
I am thinking about getting something this time to just see what it is like not to be in pain, but since the first was 4.5 hours, the second 2.5 hours, if this pattern stays I won't have time for anything this time LOL
We'll see. I am probably lucky if I have the baby in the hospital rather than on the way there.
I didn't have anything with the twins because it all happened so fast. It would have been nice though, because it is not fun having a doctor's arm all the way inside of you trying to turn a baby.

Before when I first got pregnant I thought everything was going to be a piece of cake so I was always saying how I didn't want any drugs but now that I'm about to give birth I've changed my mind. I'm so uncomfortable right now and miserable. I figure when I do go into labor I wanna be able to relax until my baby comes. I won't be opting for an epidural though. I'm just gonna see how the other drugs work first.

with lizzy i got one shot of demerol . it didnt last long so by the time i was pushing i felt everything
with alex there wasent time
with james there was one shot of stadol then he was here but the stadol wasent strong enough to even take the edge off so really i had nothing with all three and they all hurt like hell personally but it didnt last forever but man i was getting drugged after they got here though

I went completely drug free with Haley and that was a 15 hour labor. With Zachary I ended up caving six or seven hours into the labor which lasted 14 and with Asher I had the epidural right away but wouldn't have needed it because she was born a few minutes later.
I'm not sure what I'll do this time.

With Jessica I had gas and air (nitros like the dentist uses), which was basically to help me establish a good breathing pattern rather than being a pain relief. After 8 hours of labor I caved and asked for an epidural, but they didn't check to see how dilated I was, so when they were trying to place it, I started pushing and delivered her without pain relief.

With Briahnna I just had the gas and air and she was a 15 hour labor, but by far the easiest.

Skye was induced and the labor was more painfull and chemical feeling. I had gas and air with her till the last half hour, then asked for pethadine which is like nubain, but not IV, I had it IM. I also screamed for an epidural, but was fully dilated so missed out, thankfully, because I would have regreted having one.

This time I am hoping to have a similar labor to Briahnna's.

I had both mine no drugs, nada, zilch and haven't looked back!!! I labored all day with both of them at home, well with Tyee I cleaned, went apple picking, mowed the lawn, till I couldn't take it and took some Tylonol PM and went to sleep. When it was unbearable I went to the hospital and was at 9 1/2 cent with Jake and 10 with Tyee, almost had him in the car With Tyee no after releif, I didn't need it, no tears I felt great. I think the next one I will try a homebirth.
Oh yeah both waterbirths!!
