Do your older children try to "parent" their younger siblings? Alexander has gotten to where he tells Elizabeth to stop climbing, he takes away things that he knows she isn't suppose to have, he tells her to go to sleep (at bedtime), etc.

It's not like he's being bossy by telling her what to do like most older siblings do, he's trying to be her third parent. Like, the other day I got home from work and he told me he spanked her that day because she was doing something he told her not to do.

Do your older kids do that?

Yes Brittany does that and I tell her thank you for your help but I am his mommy and I can take care of it!

It's funny that they do that but then it's not. I remember doing it to my brothers (I was the oldest) and my mother getting mad at me for it. I don't want to make Alexander feel bad like my mother made me feel because I know he's just wanting to look out for his little sister, but I don't want him to think he can parent her, if you know what I mean. I guess it's just something I'll have to deal with for quite a few years to come, huh?

I bet if you just set limits on what he as her "BIG" brother can do to help her remember the rules or look out for her he could see that he has different responsibilities than mom and dad.
I go through this with my kids as well and we have had to clearly let them know what and when it was appropriate for them to guide or stop the little ones and that parenting is mom and dads job only.
