Coughing

I have a question for anyone that might have had this experience.

Did you have a problem with coughing when you were pregnant?

This is what I mean... For the last month or so, right after I lay down at night, I start coughing. It's a really deep chest cough. It lasts about 5-10 seconds and I only do it once or twice. My husband didn't notice it to begin with, but last night he said that it sounded like a "bronchial asthma" cough. The thing is--I'm not asthmatic, and I don't have any sinus drainage or infection right now.

I think I must have scared him last night when I started coughing like that. Usually when he hears me cough, he either thinks I'm choking, or he thinks that the "morning" sickness has hit again. (I don't throw up when I get sick--I end up coughing it up --Sorry--I know that's gross-- I'm not sure which is worse.) But it must have sounded really bad.

Just wondering if anybody else has had a problem with coughing.

I have not had a problem with just "coughing" but my whole upper respiratory system has been very irritated since I got pg. My allergies are worse, and you can ask Tara about the whole asthma thing she has had to deal with. So, it is likely that your coughing has something to do with your pgncy. I know that all of the "linings" in your body swell when you are pg. This includes your nasal cavities, sinuses, probably, throat or something in the throat dept. and even your vagina, inside and our. They fill with blood I think but I don't know all of the technical stuff. I just know it happens. That is why so many pg women deal with stuffiness and sometimes their noses and sinuses swell to the point where it is visible to anyone walking by.
Okay, I rambled. Sorry!
