Drugs and babies???

Hey girls

I have a question for some people. I am on blood thinner because of a blood clot we found in my leg back in November. I know when they first put me on them the doctors said that I may want to go on different blood thinners when we do get pregnant. Anyway I was wondering what to do. I have made an appointment with my doctor for next week and I was wondering if I should wait until I get pregnant to change drugs or should I do it now or will it have any effect on my body and my possible child if I am pregnant now?

My general rule of thumb for me, is I don't take anything that I couldn't take if I were pregnant while i am ttc including caffine and alchol. I would talk to my dr about my concerns and see what s/he says. GL!

What kind of doctor are you going to be seeing? I have to say that primary care doctors don't always know the right answers when it comes to pregnancy and drugs. A lot of times even they err on the side of caution and you don't get the best care that you could be.
Your OB-Gyn would know best what it is safe take.
I agree with Lenora that drugs should be limited while TTC just as if you were pregnant or breastfeeding, but I also know from experience that in some cases that isn't possible.

When we decided to TTC, the OB/GYN immediately switched me to a different BP medication - something I could take while pregnant. I'd recommend talking to your doctor about it - I bet you'll change sooner than later.
