and what can I do for him? The doc can't see him till tomorrow

DS is 23 months. He's feverish, won't eat, wakes up in the night, and cranky. Just now he was putting his hands on his ears when he tried to eat..

That sounds like the classic signs -- I don't guess there is much you can do if the doc can't see him till tomorrow. Maybe just some Tylenol and all the fluids you can get him to take??? Poor baby -- hope he feels better soon!

Oh ... and after thought ... sometimes when my kids had ear infections, the doctor would suggest decongestants to help clear the stuff out of the ears. Wonder if that would help any in conjunction with the Tylenol?

Jen has had a few ear infections. My suggestions for relief are: have him lay propped on a pillow (as high as he is comfortable) so it is not draining down, a warm washcloth (dampen and throw in the microwave) held to his ears. Other than the drops they can perscrib you when you get in to the docs, these are the only things I have found to give them some relief.

YOu can also try elevating the head of his bed to see if that helps. A lot of the time if they have an ear infection, laying flat down like that really hurts them as it builds up more pressure....you can elevate it easily by putting a couple of soup cans under his mattress :hug; for him and you

Lots of TLC too, which I am sure you are already doing. Not fun to have a child with ear infection. Sending my thoughts and prayers your way.
