When I was a little girl, my mother gave me cookies when I got hurt. The doctor gave me a sucker when I got a shot. These things helped link food with comfort for me. So with my dd, I tra to give her a hug and a kiss when she falls down instead of a cookie or an ice cream. But I still find myself thinking - she fell give her a cookie, but then I stop myself and give her a hug instead. What are some other ways you reward or comfort you child without using food?

: And let me tell you, I was a fat, well fed porker.... I always just kiss the boo-boo and we have quite a stash of great band aids---Dora, Spiderman, crayon type. My kids are 2 and 4 and they LOVE getting band aids! I can see your concern, but cool band aids for boo boos and a sticker from the pediatrician has always worked with us. GL!
