Would this be ok ??!!??!!

I asked my SIL if she was going to have a baby shower with this one (her 3rd) and she said you wern't supposed to have one after the 1st

I SOOO want to do something for them and this baby .. but what? Would a shower be ok .. or should I do something else?

I think a shower would be fine. I have heard that before too, but never stuck to it. I had one for all four of my sis's pregnancies! If she is really against it, do not label it a baby shower, but a party instead!

a lot of people have them after their first. I had two and then they threw me a surprise one for this baby. And If it is a girl, there will be an after baby shower too. I think it's fine. It isn't Like SHE is the one throwing it for herself.

I've always heard that you only have one for the first as well. EXCEPT if there is a huge age gap between the babies/children.

I didn't expect one this time around. So, when Dee got the family together for a small one, I was completely shocked.

JMO - I wouldn't throw her a huge, elaborate one like she had for the first (and or second). However, you could have a more low key party/get together with family and close friends.

I think you should go for it. I hope that if I have a boy next time that I would get a shower b/c he wouldn't be able to wear Sharla's PINK outfits!

She has never had a big one at all .. just a tiny one. SO I was thinking about a party where everybody mailed or took gifts to her like an "open house" type atmosphere. On a Saturday form 2 - 5 .. drop in. I went to one of these before for a girl that was on bed rest and it was really fun and neat. You got one on one time and she was not overwhelmed!!

Roxanna, that is a great idea. Also if she already has most of what she needs for this baby, from the first baby, you can always suggest that people bring "needed" gifts, such as diapers, cloth diapers, baby wipes, Practical things that every new mom needs no matter how many kids she has had in the past. I know with this one I would be thrilled to get just diapers Especially if we don't get Logan out of his pull-ups, then I would have three in diapers again. NOT FUN!!
