I went to Kroger this afternoon. I shopped for 5 people for this week. I planned on spending $100.00 and I only spent $75.83. I used my Kroger plus card, Kroger coupons, and product coupons.

WOW .. I saved $25.88

So tomorrow, I'm going to Publix because they are having a great sale and spend the rest of my weekly food budget of $50.00!!!

Wish I had read this post earlier. Rick call me the coupon queen! Luckily, I save my receipts so I can post about my last trip. Here goes:

How many people are you shopping for?
5 - 3 adults, 1 kid and 1 baby

How often you go after groceries? The date you went.
I do one really big shop once a month and then go again about once a week for perishables. I went March 6th

Did you use Coupons?
Always!

Did you use a "store card"? (Food Lion, Bi-Lo, etc.)
Of course!

Did you budget out how much money you were going to spend?
Not more than $80, all I had in my grocery envelope.

How much did you save?
$46.27

Did you met your budget?
Oh, yes. I only spent $63.81

That is great for me. I don't usually spend that much at the beginning of the month, but they (Kroger) had some great sales so I stocked up on some stuff. Can't wait for Rick to get paid next week so I can do this again!

Oh, anyone who lives in TX.... FYI

Albertson's is pulling out of the TX market, so they are going to be having some really good sales coming up.

Ok guess I will post this....

I went to the store for a coupole of items. No list and no budget. Just needed the makings for strawberry short cake. Anyways got a few other things. Before coupons and card my total was $27.91...after it was $10.45..so savings of $17.46. I miss grocery shopping. I can't really do any until after we move.

I had to post this ... dh is doing the shopping until I get a clear chest x-ray (have pneumonia) .. which will probably be 3 - 4 weeks from now. So he went to the store with my list and my coupon binder and the sales paper with 3 kids and only 3 hours of sleep and he had a budget of $125.00. He only spent $93.27 and saved $18.78 with coupons and our store card!!!!!!!! And he got several things not on the list too ... including some ice cream to make me feel better!!!! WTG hubbie!

I have a hard time saving living here being I only like shopping at Publix. If any of you girls have a Shoprite by you , that is the place to go (double coupons and nice produce). My hubby and I would save anywhere from 10.00 to 35.00 in coupons alone, and that isn't counting the "buy one get one free" stuff. We would always get the Sunday paper for the coupons because I figured that spending 1.25 to save 35.00 was worth it. I know that they have Shoprite in NJ .... they may have them in PA as well....... not too sure about that.

I have only driven by Aldi's .....never stopped out of fear

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY

We are 2 people and spend about 225.00 a month in usual shopping with an additional 20.00 a week on lunch items for my Hubby

OMG!! I forgot , if you don't already know this ( and I am sure that you do!!) My sister (lives in NJ) goes to A&P just for baby food and diapers because for every , I want to say 200.00 , you spend in baby stuff they give you 20.00. so she goes with coupons up the wazooo

Hope that helps too

Ya might also want to look into those clubs like Sams etc.
I went to pick up stuff there for the bar at my wedding a while ago ( not too long ago) and for 140.00 I had enough juice ( Tropicana gallons for 3.00 orange and grapefruit, cranberry) and soda ( I could not even begin to tell you how much soda we bought ....... ) to take care of 140 people at my wedding, the 30 people for my nephews christening , gave half the juice away and I think there is still soda floating around. I know that it is something like 40.00 to join for the year , but they will usually give you a trial membership for free. Ya might want to try it out. I think they take coupons too and I know my MIL has bought food food from them and it was good
Ya just might want to have a big freezer because it is all in bulk.
They take checks too

As far as I know, places like Sam's and Cosco don' take coupons - at least not here in TX - because they are wholesalers. If they take them where you are, you are very lucky!

Rebates are always a good thing

Hey, I saw a website selling diapers 49.99 for 174 with no shipping ( that was for pampers size 1-2, size 3 was 49.99 for 144 and the size 4 was 120 for 49.99)
( I think that's good .... haven't had to buy them yet )

Hopefully soon I will know if that is a deal or not

It was www.babysheaven.com

If you guys can let me know if that is good before I need to take a second mortgage out to pay a premature diaper bill
I would really appreciate it

I buy the off brand, since Ally doesn't have problems with them. I get 96 diapers for $12.97. But I don't think even the brand names are that expensive. Do some comparison shopping before you buy those!

Oooh, Tara! You go girl! Don't you just love it when you save that much!

I went shopping this morning for Easter and the next 2 weeks. I had a budget of $200 for 5 people.

Before coupons and discounts - $228.34
After coupons and discounts - $132.68

Saved - $95.66!

I counted and we came home with 27 bags of groceries and Easter goodies! Even Rick was amazed. I haven't done that well in ages, but the Easter sales were just awesome. Made me wish I had more coupons! Both of the kids got a toy for their Easter (Drew - Lego / Ally - Elmo) and I even got the guys some expensive chocolate for the family basket.

OKAY

I was in BJ's Wholesale the other day with my sister, and the lady answered the coupon question.
Yes they do take them. Not only do they take them , but if you have a BJ's coupon and a manufactor coupon you can use both ( on everything but diapers, all other baby stuff is okay) The Lady explained that if you were to buy a 12 pack of lets say , paper towels and had a coupon for .25 a roll ... you could use 12 of the coupons. I just thought you all might like to know (it's a new thing they started , I believe). I wasn't sure about it before when I mentioned it. I hope that might help

I also went clothes shopping for myself the other day to New York & Co. (used to be Lerner) and for 80.00 I got 3 sweaters, 2 sweat jackets , 2 tee shirts and 6 pairs of panites. The sweaters were on clearance for 7.00 each and I used a 25.00 coupon off of 75.00 that I had, and I went on Tuesday which is 10% off if you use your credit card , so I saved about 33.00 if you don't count the sale stuff that was half off or 2 for 20.00 WOO HOO !!
