I always hit the clearance racks .... no matter where I go.
That's great for baby clothes too

Plus, by having thier credit card they send me those 25.00 off 75.00 or 50.00 off 150.00 all the time ..... I just use it when I really need to get something and the rest of them I give away.

In fact, I gave a 45.00 off 90.00 to a friend of mine cause I am okay with clothes for now and she mentioned that she could use some stuff

We have been REALLY doing some shopping the past two days and here are the fruits of our labor!!!

Kroger - went for our regular weekly grocery shopping for all 5 of us. We had a budget of $50 and spent $42.68. We saved $19.04 in coupons and store card.

Eckerds - went for diapers and other paper goods. Saved $26.00 .... Only paid $4.99 for a pack of Pampers Jumbo pack of size 4 diapers!!!!!!

Blockbuster video - Went to rent movies ... Had a coupon fo rrent 1 get one free. Also, they had their previously viewed movies on sale for buy 2 get the 3rd free ... saved $14.00 there!!!

The Disney Store - went to check out their clearance sales and they had everything for 70 - 80% off!!!!! I got $184.00 worth of clothes for me and the kids for only $36.80!

I'm so excited!!! That's a total saving of $95.84 this week!!!!

I had an Eckerds coupon for the diapers at ($1.00 off)... plus they were on sale for $8.99, I had a Pampers coupon for another $1.00 off and I had a $2.00 off coupon on any one baby item for joining their baby club!

SO ..... I actually used three coupons on one sale item!!!!

How do you manage to only budget less than $50 for 5 people for a whole week? Is the cost of living cheaper there? Do you buy offbrands or something? I'm just trying to figure out how you pull that off. I mean your budget of $50, not the savings(I understand that part ).

Tara - I usually budget $120.00 for all 5 of us ... but every 5 - 6 weeks I am stocked up enough to only have to spend arond $50.00! We would NEVER survive on only $50.00 a week! But I shop the sales everyweek and use coupons so it seems to work out this way!!!

Tara, I budget $200 per month for 5 people (3 adults & 2 kids), including diapers and formula. You can do it if you are willing to shop the ads, clip and trade coupons and go to several different stores to get the best deals. Also, about every 3 or 4 months a local store will have a big sale on canned goods or boxed goods and I stock up. That way I don't have to buy as much the other months. I have a old armoire in my livingroom full of canned & boxed items. If need be (and we have done this), I can go for about 3 months without buying that stuff w/o completely running out.

Tara, I get $300 per month for groceries, toiletries, paper goods etc. and usually only use $200 of that and I have 2 in diapers. It is possible if you shop sales, stock up and so forth. If I can find a good sale on canned veggies (had one before I left Maryland) like 5/$1.00 then I buy as much as I can and go back several times. Now I don't have to buy vegetable for months. It is a lot of work, but I love to see how much I can save.

Went shopping yesterday. Randall's is having a 20% off meat sale for those who live in the Houston area!

Randall's - nothing but meat

Spent $79.57
Saved $50.17 (39%)

Kroger - selected items

Spent $26.12
Saved $15.12 (37%)

Walmart - everything else!

Spent $165.56
Saved $6.85

Total Spent $271.25
Total Saved $72.14

Yes, I went way over my $200 budget, but I won't have to buy meat again for about 2 or 3 months!
