I unplug the microwave, coffee pot, and any other appliance in use
Also I use surge protectors and I turn them off at night.

I am a proud wife to a hard working man Russ
and I have two wonderful kids Hannah and Will!

I wash my clothes in cold water, use fans when I can instead of a/c, haven't been using the heater at night, use low use light bulbs, where I can use low use bulbs, I use low wattage bulbs, and I have been cutting down the time the dryer is on.

Oh this is something I'm bad about. Frankly, I feel to lazy to unplug everything. I should but I don't.

When I do my light load, I dry the undies and socks on a rack outside for a day instead of drying them in the dryer. I try to open the windows more and use the a/c less. I use fluorescent bulbs which saves money over the long run.

We use flourescent bulbs in all but 3 light fixtures (which won't take them).
We hang alot of things to dry, especially things like sheets and blankets.
Use only cold water to wash, or warm when bleaching white (once a month)
Turn the heat dry off the dishwasher - open it when it get to the dry cycle
Run the ceiling fans 24/7 so we can keep the temp higher in the house.
Hand wash whatever doesn't fit in the dishwasher (instead of running twice)
Hand wash small things during the day so we only run the dishwasher once per day
Have everything on surge protectors

I really ought to unplug some of the appliances, but frankly I never remember. We leave the coffee pot plugged in becasue it has a timer on it to start Rick's coffee at 4:30am. I don't keep things like the toaster, etc plugged in simply becasue we don't have the counter space for them.

I'm sure there is more, but that's all I can think of right now.
