Hello BabyU! Since the last challenge went over so well, I decided to have a new one. This one well run from 13 April 2002 until 13 May 2002 That's 1 month to save as much as you CAN!!! In this challenge I want to know about everything you save on food, toys, baby items, clothes and even oil for your car!
When you save on food, please tell me how many people you are buying for (2, 4, 6, 8, ect.), if you used coupns/store card and how much you saved

When buying everything else, you can just say how much you saved.

So start reading those sale papers and hitting the clarence racks....How much can you SAVE?? Good Luck!!!

WTG Roxanna!!!!!!

Ahhh, here I go, trying this saving stuff again....

Went to Target yesterday and bought pop, and Mike got some jeans for work, and shampoo for him(we don't use the same..different types of hair). No budget for this stuff. They had some good sales, and clearance...so total saved = $21.83

Went to Walmart for paper products, dishwashing liquid, stuff like that....used coupons, and sales. bi-weekly budget for non food items for 4 people is $150.00. I only spent $67. 48....total saved= $33.92

Got boxes from Mikes friend who just moved instead of buying them from Uhaul which we would normally do(we were so lazy in the past). But since we are trying to save money, hee hee, 15 boxes for free(LOL), and total saved(using the amount that we normally pay from Uhaul)= 18.75

Total savings this weekend=$74.50

I'm starting to learn this stuff!!

Thought I would share this. You know those "folding chairs in a carring bag" that are so big right now? Great for the beach, the park or camping?? Well, Peter and I found a "Double Chair" for $12.00 at Dollar Genral yesterday... The cheapest I've seen the singles are $8.00!

So I'm guessing I saved atleast $8.00 by buying the double one!

Hmmm... We're trying to keep up with what we save since we're trying to get a budget going, etc. So, I'll have to get in on this one. I'll look at my receipts and let you know.

Today, I do know that I saved $5.59 at the store. $3.00 was in coupons ($2 for diapers & $1 for wipes). The other $2.59 was because the diapers were already on sale. These were not for me, though. I got them as a baby shower gift for a friend.

Ewwww .. I BOGOF sales!!!

Today I went to target to pick some film and I checked out the clearance items. I saved $17.56 ... on cereal, crackers, school supplies, and gift bags.

Plus, we went to a children's resale store for some clothes for Kale and found the activity yard we were going to buy next week at Babies 'R Us for $49.99. We paid $19.99 for it so we saved $30.00 on that.

TODAY'S TOTAL SAVED = $47.56!!!

Matt bought Caitlyn a two-piece short set. It has a tank top so she can fit it over her cast easier...reg. 12.99; paid 6.23 after sale and employee discount.

JCP again! I had to buy Matt a short sleeve dress shirt for work (AC is busted) and picked up a purse for me too.
Shirt: 24.50 paid 9.69
Purse:18.00 paid 6.78

Saved about 15.00 at the grocery store last night. Spent 74.17 to feed 5 people for about a week (bought meat and Sprites).

Savings this week (not including the one I listed yesterday on the diapers and wipes):

Walgreen’s (pantyhose, canned veggies, shampoo) Spent $7.33. Saved $4.06 in advertised sales, and $2.45 in coupons. Total savings $6.51

Meijer (Sippy cup and two toys for a baby shower. Spent $3.32. Saved $4.19 in advertised sales and $1.00 in coupons. Total savings 5.19.

Walgreen’s (again) (Deodorant, pantyhose—they had deodorant BUY1/GET 1 FREE plus I had a coupon, also their knee highs, which were normally 79 cents, were 19 cents on clearance) Spent $3.13. Saved $3.59 in advertised sales and $1.00 in coupons. Total savings $4.59

K-mart had my favorite cereal on sale ½ off, and also baby bottles. We spent $7.40 during two visits, with savings of $7.04 in advertised sales and clearance items, plus $1.70 in coupons. Total saved $8.74.

Kroger (canned veggies, baby food, formula, chicken breasts). Spent $10.26. Saved $8.97 in advertised specials with the Kroger Plus card, $2.00 in coupons, plus $5.00 in formula checks. Total savings $15.97.

Gas for my car-Gas at the station by our house was $1.39 on Wednesday afternoon (ughh). Gas at the station by my work was $1.25. So I saved $0.14 a gallon. I got 13.249 gallons. I spent $18.42 and saved $1.85 by buying at that station.

Total Spent at these places:$49.86
Total Saved:$42.85

We also went to Wal-Mart Thursday night, but I can’t find the receipt for that. I do know that we spent entirely too much there for my comfort, but it was for car parts and I didn't have much choice. I bought a Veggie Tales “Glow-Junior” for Jonathan. Kinda like a Glow Worm but shaped like Junior Asparagus. It lights up and plays music when you squeeze it. It didn’t have a tag or a box, and the paint on the eye was scratched up, and it needed new batteries. But that can all be fixed and it works OK so far. They usually are about $12.96. I got it for $2.00!!! Woo Hoo!!!! So, I guess I saved $10.96 there. Of course, I have no idea what we spent on car parts for the truck. If I can find the receipt I’ll try to figure it out.

oops--almost forgot. I got my prescription filled at Target, and they were giving everyone with a new scrip a $10.00 gift card if you brought in the ad they had in the Sunday paper. So, I also saved $10.00 there on the other stuff I bought (nail clippers, Cascade--which was also on sale so I stocked up--, and candy).

you guys are doing so GREAT!

Lets see. Yesterday we spent $35.00 at Aldi's and 19.99 at Walmart.

Normally we spend about 50.00 at Aldi's and 25.00 more at Walmart but we are so stocked.

So we saved an estimate of $21.00 at those two places--no coupons though

Okay now lets talk about my weakness! BOOKS!

I bought 4 books at the Thrift store(only thing I get there)
I spent 3.50--they were like new--Saved--would have cost 23.00 if not more so that is a savings of 20.00

I got another book for 1.50--saved 6.00
My friend from Maryland got me books from a Used book store. 3 books like new--one hardback that still had a price of 24.00 on--all 3 books cost 4.50! That would have cost 36.00 new--savings of 31.50

6 books would have cost 42.00 at 6.99 each--got them for 17.00--saved 25.00

Paid 26.50 for all those books--savings of 82.50 on books!

And 21.00 at Walmart and Aldi's!

WOW!! How awesome! In a month I would NEVER have spent 90.00 on books. I would love too but I can't. I could not pass up the deals on the books so I grabbed it while I could!

I realized today that Boogies only has two pairs of shorts for this summer. TWO! So, we drove out to Penney's and bought her a pair. Saved $4.40 (plus tax) on a piar for her. I am planning on hitting a few thrift stores Monday and try to get her some more.

Ooo--I forgot. We saved $4.00 this week using pizza coupons. We spent $12.00, and it would have been over $16.00 without the coupons.

LOL Roxanna!

We don't have a Borders. The closest Barnes and Nobles is an hour away. We have Waldenbooks and Walmart. I still manage to get quite a few books. I've just discovered Used Book Stores too!

You all are doing great!!!!! I'm having a hard time keeping up!!!

I just wanted to throw this in.
Saturday, my mom, Peter and I went Yard saling. We found one where there were baby clothes for sell. 50 cents for most of them. So my mom and I bought 0/3 months for my SIL due in July...and 6/9 months for Matthew (born in September). Now for the kicker...they were ALL NEW!! The woman said that she had all these clothes last May were her son was born...but he had to stay in the hospital for 18 weeks...and didn't wear any of them. So they are all new summer clothes. We spent $8.00 for all JC Penny brand clothes. That's 16 outfits!!! I don't know how much we saved...but I know it was alot!

Target = shopped for all 5 of us. Clearance and sale items. Saved a total of $18.49 (cereal on clearance w/coupons, potting soil on clearance, bra on sale, free candy bar coupon)

Went to the butchers on Saturday (complete with migraine from hades - wore my sunglasses in the shopping mall - very FBI ) if you go late in the day (3.45pm) the have an auction bc they can't keep some of the meat until Monday, great time to buy.

Shopping for 4 ppl (my boys eat adult size meals)

I got enough meat for 22 meals (I'm talking Steak, pork and chicken here, not hamburger and sausages ) So with 6 non-meat meals thrown in that is the meat for a whole month.

I spent $93.00 for what would normally cost around $220.00 saving of $127.00 With the savings on the van that is $2127.00 for the week Go me!!
